I took my Cadillac for an MOT, as I have used Auriga before and found them to be fair and decent. However, on this occasion this was not the case. The MOT tester, a Mr Cooper, advised me that my car had failed the MOT due to the drivers side sill needing a small amount of welding (Fair enough I thought), he then came back to me about 10 minutes later and said, don't worry I have put it down as an advisory, but get it done. So I thought just how bad is the sill? Later he mentioned that 3 of my tyres were slightly cracked on the walls, but that it was so slight that it was hardly worth mentioning (So why mention it?) the same applied to the wheel bearing on the Offside rear, he said and I quote " there is a tiny amount of play in the wheel bearing on the Offside rear, but it is so slight I should forget about it". How is this helpful? he then asked me where the VIN number was? I said it is at the bottom of the windscreen, he said "No I need to know the vehicle weight to check the brakes", and then walked off. I looked up the vehicle weight on my phone, and as I was walking over to tell him the weight, he was reversing my car out of the building. I told him that I have found out what the weight is, he said "I have put it down as unknown", I said how can you check the brakes without knowing the correct vehicle weight, that you were wanting to know a few minutes earlier? So he failed the car on the rear parking and service brake when he could not have known the correct parameters to test them.
So in a nut shell I have an issue with the front drivers side sill, which may be bad enough to fail the MOT or not (some confusion here), I have 3 tyres and a wheel bearing that are not worth mentioning (but he mentioned them). And my brakes need attention to the rear, but he cannot have known how good or bad they were as he was only guessing at the weight of the car. How can this be a FAIR MOT TEST? I told them at the time that I was paying for the MOT that I was not happy with the way in which it had been carried out, and that it would be the last time that I would bring my car there to be tested again. I was then told by I presume the manager that the rolling road and brake testing equipment was correctly calibrated, I have no doubts that is true, but to get the correct results from anything requires the correct input of data, which did not happen. I know many people who do frequent Auriga for their MOT tests and servicing etc, I am sure they will go elsewhere when they read this. When I use an MOT test centre I expect a fair and correct test to be carried out, even if my car does fail the test, if the test was fair then fine I have no issues with that at all. The reality is that this test was vague and not professionally carried out. BEWARE. It is a shame that this once great business when a certain J Hunt worked there, has gone downhill, but hey ho there are plenty more fish in the sea. Of course I have to admit your previous MOT testers were very good, but I would still like an answer as to why my car was failed when the parameters of the test were wrong, Mr Cooper did not test my car correctly and that is well known by your good selves, he did not know the correct weight of my car, and when i found the correct weight on the internet he did not want to know. I do not mind if my vehicle fails the MOT, if it fails fairly, but this was unfair and incorrect, my car was tested as though it was a 2100kg car, it isn't it is a 1675kg car, how can the results be correct? They can't, and you will be reported to VOSA as recommended by people who know what has happened.
At least 9 customers as of now will no longer use AURIGA. We will leave matters in the hands of the DVLA. As I work for the NHS I too am very busy.
